The Realist movement strongly suggests that there be an extreme change in the amount of government intervention in the day-to-day decision making of the people. The freedoms of the people should be expanded greatly, including but not limited to the freedom of marriage (ex. gay marriage), freedom of body (ex. abortions, marijuana use), freedom of speech (ex. no such thing as political correctness) and the freedom of finance (ex. upper-class is not responsible for funding of any type of government welfare programs). There will be more posts outlining the individual meanings of the previously stated goals of the Realist movement.
One of the main goals of the Realist movement is to spread the notion is that the Christian-right should no longer delegate the way ALL public policy is dictated. Though religion can provide generally good personal morals, none of that belongs in government. The separation of church and state is something that a realist would place a lot of value in. Though the morals taught by religion in general could be something that can positively influence one's life, there should be no burden of religion upon the lives of others.
